You open your eyes in a small and cosy bamboo cottage that smells of clay and cardamom. Just another morning in a timeless village where nothing happens otherwise. Days come and days go in their own rhythm.

As you listlessly wallow in a tender sun and see the peasants plough through slush and mud down the terraces to prepare the fields for farming you lose count of your own time.

Someone invites you to a bungthing’s (shaman) cottage to observe some shamanistic rites.

Tumbas (bamboo containers with chi or millet beer) are offered. You follow the bungthing to the little village gumpha. Lilting voices of the praying women around the altar mingle with the mild flutter of the prayer flags.

In a darkening light you walk through a thick bamboo forest. Back home.

A small family around a fire in the kitchen is waiting for you. Stories. Fragmented words. A togetherness.

Someone is already playing on a flute while the mountain river down the gorge looks like a thin slither from a loom in a silver moonlight.

In Teentaley we invite you to such inner landscapes. Just relax, be one with the host family, enjoy their home-grown organic food, know their traditional livelihood and the many traditions, interact with the people around – in a word, dissolve your own sense of space.
